#MMN - the Migrant Media Network
The Migrant Media Network aims to assist people in making informed choices about migration by:
- Engaging members of the diaspora to engage with communities back home and have open and honest discussions about migration.
- Providing offline tools to disseminate information in remote regions.
- Creating a network of trainers in remote regions.
- Mitigating propaganda, hate speech, and misinformation on social media.
- Enabling informed decision-making regarding migration by providing accurate information.
- Running workshops, Stammtische (Bantabas) in remote regions to reach potential migrants that have little access to information.
I. EVENT TYPES
1. Stammtische (Bantaba)
Local coordinators, along with a network of trainers and community influencers, work to provide potential migrants with reliable information and training on migration issues. Our goal is to make people aware of safer migration options, if they choose to migrate to Europe.
One way #MMN helps is by hosting Stammtisch (Bantaba) meetings. In this meetings, we:
- Talk about migration options
- Talk about the dangers of irregular migration
- Discuss the dangers of human trafficking
- Highlight how social media plays a role in migration
- Look at positive alternatives at home
- Provide information on scholarships and how to study abroad
- Discuss women and their experiences of migration

2. Workshops in Ghana, The Gambia, and Germany
#MMN also hosts workshops that:
- Involve members of the diaspora community in discussing their experiences with people back home
- Partner with youth organizations to discuss the various options for how to build a successful future
- Discuss topics of interest, such as focusing on women in migration
